I got in my car for the first time in 3 days only to find out my maps don’t show the satellite view any longer. This is no longer the case with the 2019+ models. MB did offer the smartphone interface for MY2018, but it only worked if you didn't option the multimedia package, so it was either the smartphone interface or the multimedia package. If yours is a 2018 or older, then you gonna have to look into aftermarket replacements for COMAND to get CarPlay or Android Auto support. Here in the USA it was via satellite radio (SiriusXM). I see you are in the UK, so not sure how the pre-facelift (<=2018) gets live traffic over there. Again, the 2019+ system is much better with routing and live traffic via data connection. But as far as traffic issues is concerned, you need live traffic data and enable dynamic routing in the settings, so it routes around known traffic issues. What model year are we talking about? The 2019+ have an updated system with smartphone interface for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so that's how you get Google Maps on the screen of the car.
